Some risk factors are unpreventable like age, sex and family history. But other preventable factors which can be controlled are explained as follows:

1.Eat a Heart-Healthy Diet

Eating a healthy diet can prevent heart diseases, diabetes and obesity. It also helps in lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Rely more on vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, whole grains, healthy fats such as olive oil and fish.

Shy away from saturated fats and foods high in sodium and added sugars. Habitual eating of Fat-enriched food increases the frequency of heart attacks.

2.Get Regular Exercise

Scientists have shown that there is an inverse relationship between exercise and heart-related problems. It means that if you exercise regularly, it is less likely that you will get any heart troubles. Because exercise strengthens the heart, controls body weight and also improves blood circulation.

Try to make exercise a part of your routine. Even if you exercise for 20 minutes a day, that's enough if you do it regularly.

3.Maintaining Normal Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is considered to be the predominant cause of coronary heart disease. In addition, it also causes heart valve diseases and stroke. To avoid these risks, you must check your Blood Pressure regularly.

Preventing or controlling high blood pressure requires certain measures. You should quit tobacco instantly. Eating better and being active can also help you in reducing your Blood Pressure.

4.Avoid Smoking

If you don't smoke or use tobacco products, congratulations! You are at a lower risk of facing heart problems because studies show that smoking increases the risk of coronary heart diseases by two to four-folds.

Smoking raises blood pressure and reduces the concentration of oxygen in the blood which in turn makes the heart work harder to supply oxygen to the brain and the body. That's why avoiding active as well as passive smoking is necessary to prevent heart problems.

5.Manage Stress

Managing stress is of utmost significance. It is directly linked with elevating blood pressure which is the main risk factor for heart-related problems.

You can manage stress by meditation, listening to music or by some mindful activity. Breathing exercises and taking out time for your hobbies can also help you avoid anxiety.
